Jump Out of the Water — Don’t Be a Slowly Boiling Frog!

The “Slowly Boiling Frog” analogy is used to describe a person who is in a gradually worsening situation without any realization of the danger they’re in … until it is too late! It’s a great analogy and describes some of the trends in today’s culture that defy common sense. We seem to be slowly normalizing things that can be detrimental and even disastrous to the health and well-being of our children.

At the top of list, the cultural phenomenon that concerns me more than any other is the spreading of “gender confusion” throughout our schools and even our churches. American culture has been slowly sexualizing our children and often right under our noses. Language has become weaponized so what you think something means is not always the case. What would you think “gender” means and the phrase “sex assigned at birth?”

In the past it would have meant that doctors would look at a newborn’s genitalia and announce the gender accordingly. A penis would indicate a boy, a vulva would indicate a girl, and this would also be their gender. But the meaning of gender has been hijacked and changed. Today, “sex assigned at birth” is still determined by external characteristics but “gender” is supposedly what a person feels they are on the inside, and that may not agree with the external characteristics. The term “gender confusion” could not be more appropriate. Anyone who looks at their body and denies the obvious will live in confusion until they come to a place of acceptance.

Who would have thought that even the President of the U.S. would be promoting this ideology and instructing that it be implemented in public schools nationwide. His administration is going so far as to apply this new meaning of gender to Title IX which was a great blessing for girls and women. Now this benefit may go to men who “feel” they are women.

I’ve checked health curricula as young as 5th grade in several Rhode Island schools and have found resources for teachers to teach this unusual definition of gender to our children. I encourage you to do the same. Unfortunately, many schools hide teacher lessons like these to keep them from parents.

Last Saturday, I spoke with a group of 35 parents, who are becoming aware that their parental rights are being violated, and they are taking action by becoming more involved. I suggest you do the same. This phenomenon, as irrational as it seems, is now accepted by our colleges and universities.

The Slowly Boiling Frog method of gradually normalizing things that can be detrimental and even disastrous to the health and well-being of our children is widespread, but it can be stopped. Last year, Rhode Island Family Institute helped put forward legislation for transparency in sex education. The legislation would require the curriculum be posted online and that parents be given ability to opt children in rather than opt them out.

In next week’s newsletter, I will share some of the disastrous effects to the health and well-being of our children that this ideology inflicts. With the Lord’s help, you can keep your family safe.
